Are you over 18: yep!
Characters in The Box Already: Damian Wayne, Stiles Stilinski

Character Information
Character Name: Saguru Hakuba
Canon: Detective Conan
Canon Point: post File 864: Girls and Boys
History: The White Knight

Personality: At first glance Hakuba is a very neat and meticulous individual. His dress is immaculate, his words and actions precise, and he values punctuality to an almost unholy degree. He finds emotions and human interaction messy and unreliable, perhaps due to his early introduction to the darker side of the human experience (he has, in time, been exposed to so many murders that his pet hawk Watson will recognize and immediately be drawn to the scent of human blood). As a result, he finds people and their motivations difficult to understand.

When he is first introduced in Magic Kaito he has a habit of asking the criminals he catches "Why do you do it?" Where other detectives in the series will use motive as a piece of the puzzle to solving a crime, Hakuba is forced to rely on other methods to find the answer. For this reason, Hakuba will rarely rely on instinct, more content to think things through fully before he acts.

Luckily for Hakuba, he tends to think very quick on his feet.

Hakuba is the practical sort, not at all taken to whimsy. When solving crimes he deals with the concrete evidence, things you can hold and touch, rather than immaterial things such as motives or emotions. He's methodical. Whatever task Hakuba sets himself to, he finishes, and finishes well, right, and proper.

He's determined and stubborn, but in a quiet, steady way that doesn't force his will onto others, rather, simply refuses to let others force their will upon him. He's not quick to change his mind about things, which can be both a detriment or aide him in his investigations, as he is not wont to be distracted and can parse information down to the tiniest detail; in one night, he was able to narrow down the identity of Kid by knowing his blood type, height, weight, and general age. Basically, he's a born researcher.

He is a highly intelligent, and has a deeply analytical mind. As a talented detective, Hakuba observes all the finite details of a case and manages to piece them together into a solution. His eyes rarely miss a thing even if, as is often the case in regards to the human element, he doesn't quite understand what the detail might mean.

However, all of this means that he can be rather fussy and worry too much over the details, if he lets himself. Hakuba has a bad tendency to obsess and an inclination towards perfectionism that means he is constantly overly critical and judgmental of himself. He always thinks that he can do better. When he surrounds himself with positive, supportive individuals like Aoko, however, he does much better. Due to his extensive studies in the realms of psychology and the like, Hakuba is all too aware of the weak points and usually he can spot and try and temper them himself. He's getting better at it every single day.

Hakuba knows who Kid is. End of story. And while he hasn't actually made an appearance in the comics since long before file 864, there;s absolutely no way he hasn't been keeping up with anything to do with Kid, as well as potentially showing up to any public Kid heists, at the very least. He's also quite willing to break certain rules to get ahead. And he probably knows more about both Kid's situation and Conan/Shinichi's than he's willing to let on.

He also doesn't really get on with Hattori. This is almost entirely Hattori's fault, not Hakuba's obviously, since Hattori threatened Hakuba's already tenuous grasp of self worth by entirely dismissing him upon their first introduction. Hakuba, of course, struck out at him in return.

Items on your character at canon point:
(1) handgun
(1) set of handcuffs
(1) redtail hawk named Watson [i know, they have to find pets later in the box, but i thought i'd list it anyway]
(1) of his signature ugly suits
(1) gold pocket watch

Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses: Hakuba is highly intelligent, with a fiercely analytical mind and an eye for details. For this reason, Hakuba is a talented detective, with a particular leaning toward the psychology of a criminal mind, as a result of his own difficulties with understanding human emotions and motives. He's an incredibly focused researcher as well. Hakuba has exhibited in the Sunset manor case a talent for both billiards and acting, as well.

His biggest weakness is his tendency to obsess over things. While this can contribute significantly to his drive, it can also give him a sort of tunnel vision if he isn't careful. Hakuba has difficulty with human interactions and understanding people and their emotions. He has trouble connecting with others and has very few friends. Hakuba also has a significant problem with self-esteem via his father, and may prove to be prickly if he feels uncomfortable or threatened.

Hakuba has no real abilities or powers beyond, perhaps, a strange ability to keep perfect time. At this point, considering his significant lack of recent appearances in canon and pointed inability to keep his nose out of anything ever, it appears that he's developed quite a talent for keeping out of the spotlight. He's had some formal training in criminal psychology and is a decent actor, as evidenced by the Sunset Manor case in Detective Conan when he faked his own death. He typically carries a gun and handcuffs on his person as well, and knows how to use both of them.

He's also quite healthy and able bodied, and more than likely trained in both wrestling and fencing, due to their connection to Sherlock Holmes and his own personal investment in that particular series.

Prose Log Sample:
The phone rang at precisely 2 hours, 39 minutes and 46.173 seconds after midnight. Hakuba answered it on the third ring. He arrived at the Ekoda police station 28 minutes, 13.92 seconds later – after banging his head on the bedpost a half a dozen times to wake up and then coolly retreating to the bathroom to take a few Advil - looking far more put together and alert than he actually felt. (One must at all times look his best, after all.)
They showed the boy to him at 3:10 am. Any thought of seconds and decimals flew swiftly from his head.

“Why is he restrained?” Hakuba said, stepping back from the observing room glass to fix the officer on duty with a ‘well don’t you think that’s overkill’ stare. “You don’t really think that the child will lunge across the table and kill you with his left thumb, do you?” He granted the balding man a pitying look.

The officer bristles. Obviously he was envious of Hakuba’s perfect hair. “Tried to escape, didn’t he?” He said, scowling. “Would have gone straight out the window at the Tropical Land base if a night guard hadn’t caught him ‘round the ankle.” (Hakuba made a mental note to check the boy’s leg later for bruising.) “Put him in here out of the way and he’d make a lot of noise for water and then snatch the keys when someone brought him some. He flails like nothing when we try and fingerprint him and won’t even give us a name to work with.” The man jabbed a thumb in the diminutive boy’s direction, as if Hakuba wouldn’t have known who he was describing otherwise.

Cold, intimidating blue eyes flashed in their direction, zeroing in on Hakuba through the mirrored glass. Against all reason, the child was staring him down. (Instinct, Hakuba’s mind whispered to him. He knows that he’s being watched.)

The officer shivered and looked away. “Just keeps screaming about men in black and black market weapon’s dealing. Kid’s seen too many crime shows, if you ask me.”

“I didn’t.” Hakuba hummed, noting the linen bandage stained a dusty red disappearing into the boy’s hair.

“Well he’s your problem now, kid” The officer said, shoving the room keys into his hands. “Maybe he’ll do better with someone closer to his own age.” And then he left Hakuba to it.

“I am not a child.” Hakuba said to an empty room.

The boy’s eyes seemed to commiserate with him through the observation window.
